Teaching & Advising

As a sociologist whose research frequently foregrounds young adults and their perspectives on higher education, I am very aware of the importance of a college education in shaping students’ sense of self, approach to learning, understandings of the world around them, and skills for life after college. I have long been passionate about the importance of being an engaging and supportive educator; to that end, I have pursued teaching experience wherever possible and developed a robust teaching philosophy. I have taught and/or advised at the undergraduate, graduate, high school, and adult education (ESL) levels. I was awarded the Derek Bok Center Certificate of Distinction in Teaching (or equivalent Commendation) in every course that I taught at Harvard University.
